Asian markets mixed following US recovery

Asian markets traded mixed after Wall Street's higher close. The US markets recovered slightly from their worst session of the year a few days ago.

Japanese Nikkei 225 edged 0.09% up at 6:25 am CET. A potential bidder for Toshiba's chip unit, the state-backed fund Innovation Network Corp of Japan, would sell a fifth of its shares in Renesas Electronics to add to its coffers. The dollar weakened 0.1% against the yen, to go for 111.37 at 6:45 am CET.

China's Shanghai Composite dropped 0.05% at 6:46 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite shed 0.18% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.31% at 6:47 am CET. Toyota, Subaru and Mazda agreed to settle a lawsuit over their use of faulty Takata airbags.

South Korean Kospi Composite rose 0.16% at 6:27 am CET.

Australia's S&P/ASX 200 traded 0.22% in the red at 6:47 am CET, weighed by its financials sub-index.
