Brexit talks to start on June 19

Formal negotiations regarding the terms of Britain's exit from the European Union are set to start on June 19, just ten days after the country's general election, Guardian reported on Friday

According to the report, the bloc's Chief Negotiator for Brexit Michel Barnier has shared the proposed date with key officials in Brussels last week. However, no contact has yet been made with representatives from the United Kingdom given the ongoing row with Prime Minister Theresa May's cabinet over its blocking of a mid-term review of the Union's budget. Last month Britain vetoed the shuffling of EU budget to priority areas, such as the migration crisis, to which Brussels responded by canceling plans for a discussion on how the negotiations could be handled.

The first meeting between Barnier and UK Brexit Secretary David Davis will likely take place at the recently-opened Europa building in the Belgian capital, where key EU meeting rooms are accommodated, with negotiations potentially divided in four-week cycles, the report stated.
