Dow, S&P 500 close at record highs

Equities on Wall Street closed higher on Friday, despite weaker economic data, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average index and the S&P 500 closing at record highs. Amid the latest North Korean missile launch and the most recent terror attack in London, the University of Michigan survey indicated a slight drop in consumer confidence, industrial production in August declined 0.9%, while retail sales in the same month fell by 0.2%. Nevertheless, stocks advanced firmly in the positive as the Dow posted its best week this year.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 0.29% higher at 22,268.34 points, as Boeing and Intel led the gains, rising 1.54% and 1.43%, respectively, and Apple increasing over 1% as pre-orders for its new iPhone models begin today. The S&P 500 finished 0.18% in the green at 2,500.23 points with NVIDIA as the strongest performer. The tech company's shares soared 6.32% on news Evercore ISI raised its price target to the highest possible. The Nasdaq 100 added 0.32% at the close, finishing at 5,987.999 points. Meanwhile, the euro gained 0.33% against the dollar at 10:20 pm CEt, buying $1.19580.
