Erdogan sends citizens mobile voice message

Turkish mobile users were surprised in the night between Saturday and Sunday when they tried to dial a number. Before hearing a ringtone, the voice of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was heard as he said: "As president, I send congratulations on the July 15 National Day of Democracy and Unity and wish the martyrs mercy and the heroes [of the defeat of the coup] health and well-being." Thereafter, the users could hear a ringtone.

Over the weekend, Erdogan is taking part in a number of events to commemorate last years attempted coup. At a rally on Sunday, he said: "So many enemies are waiting for Turkey's death. If I enumerate, it will result in a major international crisis."

Erdogan blames the Hizmet movement, led by his former close political ally Fethullah Gulen, for the putsch attempt.
