Graham: Russia probe became 'criminal' one

Following the briefing with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein on the firing of former FBI director James Comey, Senator Lindsey Graham told reporters on Thursday that the investigation into possible Russian interference with the United States presidential election and collusion between members of President Donald Trump’s campaign team and Russian officials has gone from a “counter-intelligence investigation” to a “criminal” one.

Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill said after the briefing that Rosenstein also “acknowledged” that the then-FBI Director would be fired prior to his writing the memo, recommending Comey’s dismissal. “He knew that Comey was going to be removed prior to him writing his memo,” she underscored.

However, former presidential candidate and Florida senator Marco Rubio stated that he believes Rosenstein did not "address clearly" the issue of him knowing Comey would be fired before he wrote the recommendation.
