Lavrov slams US over Russian dip. property feud

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov slammed on Monday Washington's actions regarding the Russian diplomatic property ceased in the United States over Moscow's alleged interference in the November 2016 election. The minister said that the refusal by the US authorities to return the property back into Russia's ownership is a "daylight robbery."

Meanwhile, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Kremlin hopes the US will show "political wisdom" when approaching the issue. "We continue to hope that political wisdom and political will will be shown by our American counterparts [in the issue of returning the Russian diplomatic property]," Peskov stated.

Earlier today, a senior White House member said that Washington plans on giving the property back into the Russian ownership only if Moscow does something for the US in return, according to Sputnik. The statement was badly received by the Russians, with many branding it as an "attempt to promote the concept of the national law's priority over the international."
