US producer prices rise 0.2% in August

The Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand in the United States gained 0.2% in August compared to the month before, according to a report published by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics on Wednesday. On an annual basis, producer prices rose 2.4% last month.

Three-quarters of the increase in the PPI in August come from prices for final demand goods, which rose 0.5% over the same period, while the index for final demand services inched up just 0.1%.

Prices for final demand excluding foods, energy, and trade services grew 0.2% last month and 1.9% year on year.
