Russia pushes US to solve diplomatic row

The Kremlin demanded that the US unconditionally restore its access to diplomatic compounds in the country, calling the seizure a form of robbery.

"We still hope that our American colleagues will demonstrate a certain political wisdom and political will," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a conference call with reporters when asked about the dispute. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any attempts to set preconditions for the return of Russian diplomatic property are "daylight robbery."

Former US President Barack Obama ordered the seizure of two Russian diplomatic compounds and the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats in December over what he said was their involvement in hacking the 2016 US presidential election campaign, which Russia denies.
