UK: Assange to be arrested if he leaves embassy

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange will be arrested in case he decides to walk out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London's Knightsbridge, the Metropolitan Police confirmed on Friday, shortly after Sweden dropped rape charges against him.

According to a statement, the Met is obliged to arrest Assange since there is a second warrant out for his arrest, on the grounds that he skipped bail. The police noted that the offense Assange is now being sought for is much less serious, meaning that police presence around the embassy might be reduced.

Assange has been living in the Ecuadorian embassy since 2012.
