Asian stocks mixed as dollar continues decline

Markets in Asia traded mixed on Monday, as the dollar continued its decline on less hawkish-than-expected comments from the Federal Reserve. The dollar index was 0.16% down, at 100.18 (4:48 am CET). Investors will be focused on a number of speeches from Fed’s officials this week.

Stock exchanges in Japan were closed for a holiday. The dollar fell 0.16% against the yen, to go for ¥112.51 at 4:48 am CET.

China’s Shanghai Composite edged 0.07% up at 4:48 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite shed 0.06% at the same time. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng jumped 0.63% at 4:49 am CET.

South Korean Kospi Composite lost 0.5% at 4:30 am CET. Official data showed today that the country’s producer prices rose at its fastest pace in over five years in February.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.51% at 4:51 am CET, seeing broad losses across all sub-indexes.
