Dow hits record high as markets open in the green

Stock markets in the United States opened in the green on Monday as investors focus on key speeches from several Federal Reserve officials, including Chicago Fed chief Charles Evans and New York Fed President William Dudley. Meanwhile, Amazon's shares jumped to a record intraday high at $1,017 after announcing an agreement to acquire Whole Foods last week.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index rose 0.37% at 3:42 pm CET after hitting a new all-time high at 21,444.75 points just as the session started. Apple outperformed with a gain of 1.53%, while Nike and JPMorgan bagged 1.25% and 0.96%, respectively at 3:37 pm CET.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 climbed 1.08% at 3:44 pm CET, as topped the list of best performers, rising 3.96% at 3:53 pm CET.

The S&P 500 increased 0.47% at the same time.

The US dollar advanced 0.15% against the euro to trade at 1.11796 at 3:45 pm CET, while the dollar index grew 0.16% to 97.3.
