Europe opens mixed on OPEC deal concerns

Markets in Europe opened mixed on Tuesday as oil prices continued to fall on investors fears that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) will fail to agree on an output cut at the cartel's meeting on Wednesday.

The FTSE 100 was down 0.19% at 9:00 a.m. CET. The mining sector suffered the largest losses with Antofagasta sinking 3.50% at 9:10 a.m. CET and Rio Tinto shedding 2.28% at 9:11 a.m. CET.

The CAC 40 edged up 0.05% at 9:16 a.m. CET.

The DAX decreased 0.25% at 9:04 a.m. CET. Lufthansa, dropping 2.43% at 9:11 a.m. CET, led the losses after the airline was denied a request for an injunction to stop the pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit from a new strike by a German court.

Italy's FTSE MIB fell 0.14% on concerns over the upcoming constitutional referendum on December 4.
