German PPI lower in May

Germany’s producer price index for the month of May fell 0.20% compared to April’s 0.40%, Destatis reported on Tuesday. On an annual basis, the index rose by 2.8% last month, while in April the annual rate of change was 3.4%, according to the Federal Statistical Office.

The price indices of all the main industrial groups increased in May year on year. Energy prices rose by 3%, petroleum products increased by 6.7%, while electricity prices grew 5.6%. Natural gas distribution saw a decline of 5.5%. Finally, prices of intermediate goods rose by 3.7%, non-durable consumer goods added 3.5%.
