Google Chrome to stop showing ‘disruptive’ ads

Google announced on Tuesday that the search engine giant will not show all ads in its browser Chrome, if they are "a big source of frustration," Vice President Rahul Roy-Chowdhury stated in a company's blog post. Chrome will stop showing all ads, starting from February 15, on websites that repeatedly use "most disruptive" ads after they have been flagged.

The blog post states that Google will be relaying on "Better Ads Standards" devised by industry group Coalition for Better Ads, dedicated to improving experience of ads seen on the web. Annoying ads are defined as video ads that automatically play high-volume sound or giant pop-up designed to conceal the exit icon.

"It’s important to note that some sites affected by this change may also contain Google ads. To us, your experience on the web is a higher priority than the money that these annoying ads may generate—even for us," the article reads.
