Iran's parliament votes to boost missile program spending

Members of Iranian parliament voted by a huge majority on Sunday ro raise spending on the country's ballistic missile program and the foreign operations of its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

The initial approval of a bill comes as a response to the new sanctions imposed by the United States. The bill now has to be approved by the Guardian Council, which is expected to happen, and this way Tehran will alocate $520 million on the development of its own missile program. 

According to IRNA, 247 lawmakers were at the vote session, with 240 supporting the spending plan and only one abstention.
