Israeli police wants Netanyahu charged with corruption - reports

Israeli police is recommending for the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be charged with corruption in two separate cases, local media reported on Tuesday.

Last year, the prime minister was questioned for allegedly taking expensive gifts from wealthy businessmen from Israel and abroad. Netanyahu was also investigated over his alleged deal with the publisher of the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper. The agreement reportedly involved the daily's positive coverage of the prime minister, who would support a legislation to weaken its main competitor.

Netanyahu has denied any wrongdoing in both cases. Earlier, he claimed "it is not illegal to accept gifts from friends."
