Khan: Attack targeted Muslims, tolerance

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said on Monday that the incident in Finsbury Park where a van rammed into pedestrians outside a mosque seems to be "an attack on a particular community."

"While this appears to be an attack on a particular community, like the terrible attacks in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge, it is also an assault on all our shared values of tolerance, freedom and respect," he said in a statement.

Khan said that one person died and eight were injured in a "horrific terrorist attack on innocent people" when a van hit people who were leaving Finsbury Park Mosque. "We don’t yet know the full details, but this was clearly a deliberate attack on innocent Londoners, many of whom were finishing prayers during the holy month of Ramadan," London mayor said and urged the citizens to "remain calm and vigilant."

Later on Monday, British Prime Minister Theresa May will chair an emergency session of the security Cabinet after the latest incident in London.
