Kremlin: US-led airstrike in Syria 'beyond any limits'

Gennady Gatilov (pictured), deputy minister of foreign affairs of Russia, warned any military operations will influence negotiations in Astana and Geneva about returning peace to Syria. The latest bombing of President Bashar al-Assad's forces near At Tanf by the United States and its allies goes "beyond any limits" and it is "inadmissible" as it also targeted civilian population, the diplomat warned in remarks reported on Friday by Interfax.

The Kremlin expects the opposition's High Negotiations Committee to back the suggestions related to the Syrian constitution that came from Staffan de Mistura, the envoy of the United Nations and Arab League, Gatilov added. He said parties to intra-Syrian talks support the Italian-Swedish diplomat's proposal to talk on constitutional issues. Asked about the potential for more so-called deescalation zones to be established, the Russian official said the matter wasn't the priority of the gathering in Geneva.
