Le Pen says war is on against Islamism

Even though she canceled her final appearances before campaign ceases ahead of the first round of the French presidential election, National Front's leader Marine Le Pen held a speech on Friday, calling on the government to expel foreigners that are under surveillance for extremism. "Islamism is a monstrous hegemonic ideology that has declared war on our nation, on reason, on civilization," the far right politician stressed and added the answer must come on a national level.

France is not targeted for what it does but for what it is, and the French for the simple reason that they are French, Le Pen stated, referring to yesterday's deadly attack in Paris that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for. Policemen are attacked because they are the symbols of the state, she said of the incident in which an officer lost his life. The presidential candidate called for the "immediate restoration" of borders and for Islamist mosques to be closed, while adding Salafist organizations like the Muslim Brotherhood should be banned.
