Support to Macron against Le Pen rebounds to 60%

Results of OpinionWay's daily poll among French voters showed far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen lost one percentage point in backing ahead of the first round of the election, to come in at 27%. The update released on Monday reveals the ratings of Francois Fillon, conservative ex–prime minister, and Emmanuel Macron (pictured), the liberal standard-bearer, both edged two points down, to 18% and 23%, respectively.

Nevertheless, the centrist former minister of economy would beat the leader of the National Front by 60% to 40% in a two-way setting, as he regained one point from March 17, the agency added. The Republicans' candidate Fillon stands with unchanged backing of 55% against 45% for Le Pen in the case of a runoff. The first round of the election is scheduled for April 23.
