UK consumer prices climb to 2.3% in February

Consumer prices in the United Kingdom rose to 2.3% in February compared to the same month in a year ago, the country's Office for National Statistics reported on Tuesday. The jump follows a 1.8% increase in January and is the highest since September 2013.

On a monthly basis, UK consumer prices were down 0.7% in February from the first month of 2017. Motor fuel prices contributed most to the rise, as they jumped 1.2% between the January and February. 

Food prices rose 0.3% year on year after declining for 31 months in a row.
