UNSC condemns N. Korea's latest missile test

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) strongly condemned North Korea’s latest missile test on Thursday and urged Pyongyang to “conduct no further nuclear tests.” The UNSC adopted an amended resolution drafted by the United States after Russia requested the document to contain calling for a peaceful solution of the Korean Peninsula issue “through dialogue.”

The resolution threatens to impose further sanctions against North Korea if the country continues with its missile launches and blames Pyongyang for “illegal missile activities” which are “greatly increasing tension in the region and beyond.”

North Korea launched its latest ballistic missile over the weekend, but according to the United States Pacific Command, the missile test resulted in failure. US Defense Secretary James Mattis claimed North Korean leader Kim Jong-un "recklessly tried to provoke something by launching a missile." Earlier today, North Korean state media warned the US and its "imperialistic" allies not to "mess with" North Korea.
