WH praises China for reducing trade with N. Korea

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders's office praised in a statement on Friday China for "sharply reducing" its trade with North Korea and noted the Trump administrations is "pleased" with Beijing's action.

"This action supports the United States-led global effort to apply maximum pressure until the North Korean regime ends its illicit programs, changes its behavior, and moves toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," the statement stressed.

Earlier, China reported that its trade with North Korea declined by 10.5% in 2017 with the trade between the two countries falling by 50.6% in December year-on-year. In the last month of 2017, China's imports from North Korea were 81.6% lower than in the same month a year earlier and amounted to $54.34 million.
