WSJ: GE, Google likely to secure Cuba deals

General Electric Company (GE) and Google Inc are likely to receive agreements to operate in Cuba, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing U.S. officials.

The two deals are expected to be announced over the next few weeks. In the timeframe, three American cruise companies will, also, unveil they will start to offer services to Cuba, the paper reported.

GE spokesman said: “We continue to talk to Cuba and we’re in the middle of negotiations.” The three cruise lines, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and Pearl Seas Cruises, stated separately that their businesses are still in talks with Cuban authorities and that they are optimistic about the outcome of those negotiations.

The White House is pressing Cuba to complete outstanding deals before the U.S. president-elect Donald Trump takes office.
